1. First time in the history, after the independence of India, the value of commodities remained unchanged as it will never happen in budget thanks to GST (Goods and Service Tax) launched in 2017, and after that price of commodities has been decided by GST council.
2. GST doesn't need the consent of parliament to do that, and to change this practice constitutional amendment will be required.
3. The government left only with customs duty for alteration and that too is applicable only on foreign goods that are imported.
