In this process, devotee walks fast and later on cool his feet on the land or grass. Their feet remain dry to avoid sticking of hot coal to the skin for a long time that mitigates the risk for burn. Last but not the least fact is that when it comes to the amber glow they are not a good heat conductor hence one needs to make contact for 1/4 of a second to let pass the heat to the skin.
